Basketball the Way it was Meant to be Played

Let’s take a moment to see what the NBA is turning into. We are trying to protect the players and the fans so much that the game itself is changing dramatically (literally). Rather than playing good hard defense, and seeing a solid physical game, we have now found teams playing mediocre defense because players are afraid that if they even touch the other player that they will get a foul called on them. Don’t even get me started on leaning into the airborn defender to draw the foul. If your are fouled taking your shot, fine, but if you go out of your way to make contact, then either it is a no call, or it’s a foul on you for being stupid.

Here is a video I found of some pretty ridiculous flops in the past years. Sorry if I offend any LeBron James fans with the video. I didn’t make the video, he just happened to have quite a few amazingly dumb flops!

We need to get away from this weak, everything is a foul basketball, and go back to the good ole’ days when a foul wasn’t called until someone was on the ground bleeding. What happened to the great physical rivalries? Who doesn’t love watching players like Dennis Rodman, Bill Lambier, Bruce Bowen, Charles Oakley, and all the other guys who got a little chippey in games.

Here is a little reminder of how great those days of basketball were…..

What are your thoughts, is basketball better today than it was in the 80’s and 90’s?

Yes I definitely agree basketball sucks today. The biggest problem is we have an influx of White Collar fans who wants to see white collar basketball. Because they bring in a lot of money it X’s out real basketball. I mean look at pickup today how soft it is when you play Pick-up basketball game. Everybody wants to be Steph Curry or James Harden but nobody wants to set screens block shots xcetera. It’s hard to watch sometimes because defensive players in the NBA we’ll never get the same recognition as an offensive player.

That’s because we now have boys playing and not men. It’s laughable what’s a flagrant foul now. All the flopping and crying and whining.
